Academic

One of the strengths of a boarding school environment is that it allows education to spill over into every aspect of our students’ lives, through the co-curricular activities, through the bringing together of children from diverse cultures and communities, through the everyday challenges that enrich their world. We strive to knit together the academic and experiential learning into a more coherent fabric. This is what allows us to have a clear and identifiable ethos, a palpable school culture that is nourishing and nurturing of body, mind and soul.

Cooperative learning is a hallmark of Clongowes.  This gives our students skills in team work and communication and a real sense of living in a ‘living and learning community’.

Sports and Co-Curricular

Sport plays an important part in the boys’ life at Clongowes and our excellent sporting facilities provide a wide range of opportunities for our students.  Participation in sport helps build friendships, teamwork and a sense of camaraderie.  Wednesday and Saturday afternoons are busy times as students travel to away fixtures and we welcome other schools to Clongowes for competitive and friendly matches.

Our facilities for sport include extensive rugby pitches, an all weather full size pitch, soccer pitches, a 9-hole golf course, a cricket pitch and indoor nets, a Trackman golf simulator, a new weights gym, 25 meter swimming pool and lots more.  Time for sport is built into the timetable every day and is an ideal way to have fun, get fit and make great friends.

Our music programme features one-to-one tuition in a range of instruments, participation in our school orchestra, trad group, three school choirs and individual voice coaching.

We offer great opportunities for performance, debating and public speaking for boys of all ages, giving them the building blocks for increased confidence, critical thinking and research skills.

Balancing Boarding and Family Life
